Aboriginal Women's Health Business Unit

The Aboriginal Women's Health Business Unit (AWHBU) provides support and advocacy to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women who are patients of the Hospital and their families.

Aboriginal Women's Support Workers provide support and assistance for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Women, whether they are visiting the hospital for an appointment or being admitted and staying for a while.

The Aboriginal Women's Health Business Unit offers a comfortable space for women and their families to meet, make a cuppa and relax if they feel they need some time away from the rest of the hospital.

The Unit provides a range of support and advocacy services within the hospital and in the broader community, including secondary consultation and training and education to health professionals, and support for the Aboriginal Women's Health Business Committee and Aboriginal Women's Health Associates Program.
