The Women’s is starting to build up a program of research looking at how we provide care for women attending here for pregnancy care and exploring ways this can be improved or could lead to better outcomes. The primary research areas that are aligned with this type of research are 'Antenatal Care', ‘Intrapartum care’; and ‘Postnatal care and breastfeeding’. We are using a range of approaches including implementing and evaluating new models of care; conducting surveys and focus groups with women; and engaging with staff about their views and ideas. There has also been a focus on building research capacity among midwives, nurses and allied health clinicians, groups who have traditionally been less involved in actually undertaking research here at the Women’s.
