Post-graduate Midwifery Clinical Placements
|
The Women’s provides clinical placements for registered Division 1 Nurses completing post-graduate Midwifery studies in order to qualify and practice as a Midwife.
Our post-graduate midwifery students are a valuable part of our team. All midwifery placements at the Women’s are supernumerary. Supernumerary means that you will be rostered in addition to the registered Midwives in the clinical areas in order to maximise your clinical experience and meet your clinical objectives.
All midwifery clinical placements at the Women’s are unpaid. The Women’s works in partnership with LaTrobe University to provide midwifery clinical placements for its Post-Graduate Diploma of Midwifery program each year.
For further information in regard to Post-Graduate Midwifery Science (PGDM) studies can be found at the La Trobe University website.
|
Our clinical placement rotations cover a diverse range of midwifery practice. Rotations include outpatients (including high and low risk clinics), antenatal, postnatal, birth-centre, level 3 special care nursing, domiciliary and breastfeeding assessment and support.
|
Our highly experienced Clinical Support Midwives (CSMs) will work with you to support your learning journey through orientation, direct clinical support, clinical tutorials and daily debriefing sessions.
The Women’s also receives inquiries from Midwives wishing to refresh their midwifery skills or return to midwifery after an absence in practice. The Women’s provides scheduled refresher and return to practice programs for midwives wishing to refresh their midwifery skills or return to midwifery after an absence in practice.
