Family Accommodation

The Family Accommodation Service (FAS) provides temporary accommodation for patients and/or families who are from rural areas or interstate and/or experiencing extreme crisis.

The self-contained flats are at 141 Grattan Street Carlton. There are eight two bedroom flats, three single flats and four bed-sit flats available.

Who is the accommodation for?

If you are a patient of the Women's and you reside over 100km from the hospital, you and your family are eligible for accommodation at FAS.

Patients and their families experiencing extreme crisis and living within 100 km may be able to access the accommodation, depending on availability.

What will it cost?

A Victorian resident who resides more than 100km from the hospital may be eligible for accommodation and travel assistance under the
Victorian Patient Travel and Accommodation Assistance Scheme (VPTAS).

Most other states provide similar financial assistance, such as the NSW Government - Transport for Health scheme (IPTAAS).

If you live less than a hundred kilometers discuss costs with the
Women's Social Support Services (WSSS) or the Manager.
