"The Afternoon Tea", a fundraiser held to raise money to purchase two fold-up beds for use by oncology patient’s families was held on Saturday 21st July.
|Attended by more than 130 people the day, held in a fantastic private home in Kew, was a huge success. The food (all of which was donated), along with the raffles (also donated) and the generosity of all those who came along, coupled with a beautiful sunny day made the event everything that organizer, Jo Murphy, had hoped for.|
From collections and activities on the day and also through the raffle in the lead-up, money raised already exceeds $8,500 and this figure is expected to increase to more than $9,000 with personal donations still being received online.
|Jo’s desire to help the families of other cancer patients at a time when she herself was fighting the disease was typical of the lovely, generous person she was. |
Very sadly, Jo lost her fight on February 2, 2013. Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this time.
