Information for GPs
GPs may require further advice or assistance after the community ultrasound for a woman having her baby at the Women's. This may include:
  • advice about interpretation of the ultrasound
  • a follow-up tertiary scan
  • an appointment for the woman to discuss the results with a hospital doctor.

The Shared Care Coordinator should be contacted, provided with a copy of the outside ultrasound report, and advised whether the woman is to be contacted with appointment details. The Coordinator will then liaise with ultrasound obstetricians, genetics, fetal management unit and other staff as required and will make sure the GP (and the patient if requested) have the information required.
