The Royal Women’s Hospital has a proud history of research over the 152 years of its existence.

At the Women’s we have embraced research as an integral part of the hospital’s mission and vision, and facilitated a unique pathway for the future of women’s health research and service delivery.
We have achieved this through strengthening our leadership, education and advocacy roles and by working hard to achieve the best outcomes for women and their babies requiring specialist care.
As a tertiary level hospital we are committed to excellence and innovation and the range of research currently being performed at the Women’s is multi-disciplinary and extends to all levels of our hospital and into the community.
Our research goals include fostering an environment and creating a culture amongst our staff that is conducive to a vibrant and collaborative world class research program.
The current care we provide our patients has arisen largely from the results of past research studies, not only at the Women’s, but also from around the world.
Our annual research reports highlight the major areas of research within the hospital, with more detailed information on grants, students, and publications obtainable towards the end of each report.
The Women's first integrated Research Report (2007) is published on the following pages. This report describes the 2006 research activities of the Royal Women’s Hospital, Victoria.
The Research Report will now be published annually and future reports will also be available from our website.
