Visitors are very important for our patients and are welcome at the Royal Women's Hospital.
Visiting hours vary according to the ward and the needs of individual patients. Partners and children or siblings of patients may visit between 7am and 9.30pm, or other times by arrangement with the nurse in charge.
Children must be accompanied by an adult and supervised at all times.
For the comfort of all patients, you are requested to limit the number of visitors to a maximum of four at any one time (two visitors at any one time in the High Dependency Unit).
Maternity ward: Visiting hours are from 2.30pm to 8pm daily. A rest period is encouraged for all patients between 1pm and 2pm.
Gynaecology ward: Visiting hours are 2.30pm to 8.00pm daily.
Oncology (cancer) ward: Visiting hours are generally between 10am and 8pm daily.
Special and Intensive care for babies: Our staff aim to provide family centred care while maintaining the privacy of personal information and the prevention of infection.
Family and friends, including children, may visit babies in special or intensive care, according to the wishes of the baby's parents.
To help provide a quiet and safe environment for all babies, we request than no more than three family members or friends (including the baby's parent/s) at baby's bedside at any one time.
Written parental permission is required for family members or friends to visit a baby in the absence of a parent.
There is no restriction on how long you may stay at baby's bedside. However our staff may request that parents and visitors leave from time to time, for example, during doctor rounds or staff handover.
