Women's Alcohol and Drug Service (WADS)

The Women's Alcohol & Drug Service is a statewide, voluntary service providing care and support for pregnant women with ongoing drug and alcohol issues as well as professional support and education programs.



We provide informed and optimal multi-disciplinary care for pregnant women with drug and alcohol issues and their infants (see Neonatal abstinence syndrome) through:
  • Clinical services for women requiring intensive pregnancy care due to drug or alcohol complexities
  • Professional statewide education and support for health professionals and service providers
  • Research
  • Advocacy for women and their infants

The Women's Alcohol and Drugs Service operates a duty system for all initial enquiries, referrals and pre-pregnancy information.

Hours and days of service operation


Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5pm
