Social Support (Social Work)

The Women's Social Support Services aims to improve the health and well-being of women and babies attending the Women’s.

The Women's Social Support Services embraces a view of women's health that is holistic and considers women’s social, physical emotional and cultural well-being.

Our team of committed social workers and administrative staff are dedicated to maximising women's choice and control over their own health care. We offer services to women and their babies from diverse backgrounds and provide support to women with complex social needs.

Our social workers offer support to women through their maternity, neonatal, gynaecological and oncology experiences. We provide information, counselling, support and advocacy for women in response to health and social needs.

We can assist you with:
  • support when you go home from hospital
  • feelings of isolation, depression or anxiety
  • unplanned, complicated or multiple pregnancy
  • support with options if you are experiencing or at risk of violence
  • support during situations of distress or crisis
  • bereavement support
  • Centrelink Services or support with financial matters
  • immigration and cultural concerns
  • alcohol or substance use
  • disabilities or special needs
  • relationship concerns
  • referral and information for services in your community
