Being a Woman ... raised the roof.

Audience members who travelled from the city, suburbs and regional areas enjoyed the show, Being a Woman is Good for Your Health, that celebrated International Women’s Day and raised funds for the Royal Women’s Hospital.

Comedian Nelly Thomas kept the laughs coming as she introduced Kelly Nash, Hannah Gadsby, Melinda Buttle, Lisa Maza, Cal Wilson, Catherine Deveny and Fiona O’Loughlin to the 800-strong crowd who packed the iconic venue on Saturday 13 March.

Nelly Thomas has written and performed several ground-breaking shows for the Women’s that combine health promotion and comedy, including a show for young women about sexual health called
The Condom Dialogues, and one about consent called The No Means No Show .

"
Being a Woman is Good For Your Health is one of the most wonderful shows I’ve ever been involved in," she said.

"It was an opportunity to get together as women and laugh about the highs, lows and everything-in-between’s of being a woman in the 21st Century."

The show was co-produced by DirtyWork Comedy and the Women’s and sponsored by the City of Melbourne. All proceeds went to the Women’s.
