Topic alerts (AutoAlerts)
|
This service is used to monitor the latest journals for specific topics of interest.
The auto alert feature is built into the OVID database platform and is available for searches on:
|
- Medline (medicine)
- CINAHL (nursing and allied health)
- PsycINFO (psychological medicine)
- EMBASE (microbiology, genetics and pharmacology
|
|
The basic steps are:
|
- Set up a search strategy on one or more databases which captures articles relevant to the topic of interest.
- Save the search strategy as an AutoAlert.
- Choose the desired update frequency, for example weekly or monthly.
- Decide how much detail is to be provided in the alert (citation, subject headings, abstract, fulltext links and so on).
- Choose one or more email addresses to receive the information.
- The AutoAlert will then run automatically against new records added to the database.
- Any updated results (article citations) are automatically delivered via email.
|
|
AutoAlerts can be set up to run via a Library account, or via an account in your own name.
Contact Library staff for assistance with AutoAlerts.
