Major supporters
As well as donations, the Women’s is very privileged to have received support from some visionary major donors and philanthropic organisations.

The Women’s is privileged to enjoy the generosity of many visionary major donors and philanthropic organisations over the past years.

★   Gandel Philanthropy & the Gandel Family

The Pauline Gandel Women's Imaging Centre, and the establishment of the first MRgFUS technology in an Australian hospital, was made possible by very generous donations from Gandel Philanthropy and the Gandel family.

★   The Pratt Foundation

The Pratt Foundation's gift to the Women's has been recognised as one of Australia's Top 50 Philanthropic Gifts. The Pratt Foundation, under the leadership of Mrs Heloise Waislitz, made possible the establishment of the Centre for Women’s Mental Health, the first mental health centre to combine gender-specific research and care.

★   Miss Betty Amsden AO and Mr Harold Mitchell AC

Through the very generous support of Miss Betty Amsden AO and Mr Harold Mitchell AC, two of the most recognisable landmarks in the hospital were made possible.  The wonderful bronze statue in the atrium was donated by Miss Amsden in honour of her mother, Sister Amsden. The magnificent and much-photographed statue on the footpath adjacent to the front entrance stairs was donated by Mr Mitchell.

★   Alfred Felton Bequest

Midwifery & Maternity Services at the Women's were able to conduct a three year pilot study entitled “Proactive telephone peer support in the early postnatal period to increase breastfeeding: a randomised controlled trial” thanks to a grant from the Alfred Felton Bequest.

★   Collier Charitable Fund

The Collier Charitable Fund has supported a number of special projects undertaken by the Centre for Women’s Mental Health.

★   Harold & Cora Brennen Benevolent Trust

The Harold & Cora Brennen Benevolent Trust has been a loyal supporter of the Women’s Pregnancy Research Centre, funding essential pieces of laboratory equipment.
