Services available

The Women’s Menopause Clinic has a specialist team of gynaecologists, endocrinologists and specialist nurses who provide a multidisciplinary approach to care. We offer advice on:

• medical therapies to alleviate menopausal symptoms
• lifestyle factors such as exercise and nutrition
• cardiovascular health
• bone health.

Inclusion criteria

1. Vasomotor symptoms requesting treatment and not responding to MHT (if eligible) or first line non-hormonal (oxybutynin or fezolinetant) therapy
2. Vaginal dryness requesting treatment and not responding to vaginal estrogen (if eligible) or non-hormonal treatments
3. Confirmed Premature Ovarian Insufficiency
4. Complex medical conditions associated with premature menopause (such as Turner Syndrome)

Exclusion criteria

Patients with mild menopause symptoms, those who have not commenced standard care in a primary care setting, or those experiencing surgical menopause aged over 46 years who are asymptomatic.

Referral instructions

Essential information

All referrals must include essential demographic, medical and social history details, and relevant information about the presenting complaint.

Investigations

• Consider hormonal tests (FSH and estradiol) if menopause is not clear on history.
• If undertaken, include bone density, CST, breast screening.
