More than 750 doctors and midwives are registered as shared maternity care affiliates with the Women's.

There are joint credentialing and re-credentialing criteria and a joint process with The Royal Women’s Hospital, Mercy Health, Western Health and Northern Hospital.

Credential as an affiliate

General Practitioners & Obstetricians

To apply for Shared Maternity Care affiliation for the 2020 – 2022 triennium at The Royal Women’s Hospital, Mercy Health, Western Health and Northern Hospital, you need to complete an credentialing application form.

Every three years, affiliates will be invited to undertake reaccreditation in order to maintain their accreditation. Reaccreditation criteria differ from initial accreditation criteria.

Re-credential as an affiliate

General Practitioners & Obstetricians

General Practitioner and obstetrician shared maternity care affiliates (SMCA) have been emailed an invitation to re-credential for the 2020–2022 triennium. The shared care agreement and a step-by-step guide to the online process was attached to the email.

Once you have registered, you will be sent an email outlining the documentation required to complete your application.

Timelines

Register to re-credential: via online registration site 2 September 2019
Submit required information to re-credential (Details will be provided in the confirmation email) 1 November 2019
Applicants advised of outcome of application 31 January 2020

Re-credentialing requirements for 2020-2022 are:

  • Current Medical Registration and Medical Indemnity Insurance
  • Ten pregnancy related QI&CPD points
    OR Attendance at 2017, 2018 or 2019 annual half day Shared Maternity Care Workshop held jointly by the Women's in the current triennium
  • Agreement to undertakings

Midwives

Midwives seeking accreditation as a Share Maternity Care Affiliate will need to complete the accreditation application form for Midwives. The 2017-2019 triennium accreditation application form for midwives can be downloaded below.

Requests for further information should be directed to the Assistant for the Director of Maternity Services.

Re-accreditation requirements for the 2020-2022 triennium are:

  • Current Midwifery  Registration and Medical Indemnity Insurance
  • Ten pregnancy related CPD points/hours
    OR  Attendance at annual half day Shared Maternity Care Workshops held jointly by the Women's in the current triennium
  • Agreement to undertakings
