We are proud to announce that the Women’s Public Fertility Care service has been awarded the Partnering in Healthcare Award at the 2025 Victorian Public Healthcare Awards. This honour recognises our leadership in creating a more inclusive and accessible fertility care system through collaboration with health services across Victoria.
Public Fertility Care is a first-of-its-kind, government-funded program designed to remove barriers to fertility treatment for Victorians who have traditionally faced challenges due to cost, geography, or exclusionary practices. Led by the Women’s and delivered through a hub-and-spoke model with 10 partner health services, the program ensures high-quality, inclusive care closer to home.
Key achievements include:
-
11,099 referrals received, with 6409 accepted
-
670 clinical pregnancies and 282 babies born
-
Expanded access for priority groups including First Nations people, LGBTIQA+ individuals, single parents, and people with disabilities
-
Statewide rollout of advanced technology like Meditex and the HOPE app for seamless patient care
-
Intensive training programs for nurses and clinicians to build capability across Victoria
“This award is a testament to the power of collaboration and innovation. Together with our partners, we’ve created a service that delivers equity, excellence, and hope for thousands of families,” said the Women’s CEO, Professor Sue Matthews.
The annual Victorian Public Healthcare Awards celebrate excellence and innovation across the state’s public health system, recognising initiatives that improve care, access, and outcomes for all Victorians. The Women’s congratulates all winners and nominees, with a special acknowledgment to our colleagues at St Vincent’s Hospital on winning the Premier’s Large Health Service of the Year Award.
