Family accommodation is available for patients and their immediate families/supporters who live more than 100km from the Women's and are being treated at the hospital.
There are 14 self-contained apartments with their own bathroom and a fully equipped kitchen.
All linen is provided, but apartments are not serviced during your stay. We have a fully equipped laundry on site with coin-operated washing machines and dryers.
Car parking is available on-site.
Eligibility
Patients wishing to use our Family Accommodation must meet eligibility criteria and complete a risk assessment.
They will also be asked to sign a Conditions of Stay form.
The Women’s will not tolerate violence in any form. The Women’s is committed to providing and maintaining a safe and healthy work environment by the prevention or minimisation as far as is practicable of work-related injury, illness and trauma.
Costs
Costs are discussed at the time of booking.
A Victorian resident who resides more than 100km from the hospital may be eligible for financial assistance with travel and accommodation costs, under the Victorian Patient Travel and Accommodation Assistance Scheme (VPTAS).
Residents of other states who are patients of the Women's may be eligible for similar financial assistance under the following schemes:
- The NSW Isolated Patients Travel and Accommodation Assistance Scheme (IPTAAS)
- The SA Patient Assistance Transport Scheme (PATS)
- The WA Patient Assistance Transport Scheme (PATS)
- The NT Patient Assistance Travel Scheme (PATS)
- The QLD Patient Travel Subsidy Scheme (PTSS)
- The Tasmanian Patient Travel Assistance Scheme (PTAS)
Costs vary from state to state therefore you will need to discuss this with the Family Accommodation Coordinator.
How to make a booking
Bookings can be placed by contacting the Women's on (03) 8345 3050.
Patients will placed on a booking waiting list. All bookings are subject to availability.
Once a family has been placed on the waiting list, the Coordinator will contact the family to confirm availability before the date of stay.
